Campus Facilities Manager

Manager - Building Engineering and Maintenance Services

Key responsibilities

Role

  • Support the organisation with leadership and strategic asset management of services and processes that underpins the delivery of healthcare across a wide and diverse area including but not limited to;
    • Maintenance and Operations of Building, Infrastructure, Plant & Equipment.
    • Gardens and Grounds maintenance
    • Cleaning
    • Catering
    • Linen Services
    • Procurement and Contract Management
    • Security Services
    • Space Management
    • Waste Management
    • Fleet Management
    • Utilities and Communications Infrastructure
    • Capital and Minor New Works
    • Property Management
  • Lead, manage and coordinate a team of multi-disciplined trade and operational services staff in accordance with the relevant Human Resources frameworks, including recruitment, performance planning and development, to deliver a high quality of service with a strong client focus.
  • Liaise with and provide both verbal and written reports to Executives, Business Managers and Corporate Services Directors and other Managers to provide advice and feedback on assets, Facilities Management activities, Key Performance Indicators, compliance, and performance.
  • Actively investigate, identify and implement cost saving initiatives and efficiencies to ensure building efficiencies and maintenance compliance is maintained.
  • Manage, maintain and operate the facilities/hospitals critical infrastructure to ensure continual supply of but not limited to, Electricity, Gas, Chilled Water, Steam Supply, Medical Gases, Fire Systems, Potable Water and Hot Water.
  • Provide expert knowledge and advice on all practises, processes and aspects of asset management, maintenance, operations, procurement, development and disposal, to the organisation
  • Manage financial resources allocated the facility / hospitals asset portfolios
  • Manage all associated risks falling under the facilities management portfolio including but not limited to; building, infrastructure, plant, equipment, grounds and gardens.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe workplace is maintained at all times
  • Maintain quality control processes to ensure compliance with all relevant Australian Standards, Acts, Building Codes and Regulations
  • Ensure that the Facilities Department implements and complies with policies and procedures to meet all mandatory, regulatory and legislative requirements, standards, guidelines, and best practices, including contemporary human resource management requirement in the delivery of operations, maintenance, and capital works services.
  • Ensuring timely commissioning, occupation, defect and liability periods, ongoing asset maintenance, building performance and latent defect process is managed.
  • Ensure that tender documentation for contracted services, including capital developments, is prepared and meets the procurement requirements, policies & procedures of the organisation.
  • Ensure that a program of routine service, maintenance, testing, validation, verification and certification of defined assets and services to ensure the efficient, safe and reliable operation of assets and associated systems is implemented and observed and relevant records are maintained for the service, maintenance, breakdown and repair history for each item of Plant, Equipment, System and component parts.

Other typical tasks of the Facilities Manager may include;

  • project management development works and supervising and coordinating contractors;
  • investigating availability and suitability of options for new premises including leasing in/out and tenancy management ;
  • planning for future development in line with strategic business objectives;
  • managing and leading change to ensure minimum disruption to core activities;
  • planning best allocation and utilisation of space and resources for new buildings, or re-organising current premises;
  • responding appropriately to emergencies or urgent issues as they arise
